At the end of my first year of home wine making - and with the holidays fast approaching - I wanted to do two things: make a festive, seasonal wine and make a wine I could gift to family and friends.

For the seasonal festive option, I went with a Pumpkin Pinot Noir. Finally a pumpkin wine that doesn't taste like pumpkin pie spice!

When it comes to gifting wine, as much as I would love to share my first batch of Merlot or my exceptionally dry Pear, most of the people on my holiday list prefer something sweet. I decided to try this Black Forest Dessert Wine kit, which had some good ratings on my favorite brewing supply website.

2019 has been an exceptional year: tons of home DIY projects, a new dream job, and this awesome, rewarding hobby that's brought me many hours of enjoyment (and wine!).

Looking forward to new flavors and adventures in 2020!

Cheers!

2025 In Review: The Ups and Downs of Hobby Winemaking

Every year is different. The types of wine I make, how much I end up with, and even what fruit is available. None of it is ever predictable.
